THIS COVID 19 PANDEMIC WILL END IN PRAISE....WE GO DEY ALRIGHT LAS LAS

Every day, we receive updates on the number of new cases and deaths due to the Covid-19 disease. However, I want us to remember that those numbers are real people with families, hobbies, and places they once loved. Chimamanda Adiche once pointed to the fact that we must let numbers co-exist with human stories.

My advice for managing during these times:
1. Blind optimism is probably bullshit at the moment. Rather, confront the facts but never lose hope. I’d say, find the best way to live at the moment and hope for the best. With the stay at home order, our living systems have been disrupted and giving up hope seems likely for most people. However, I urge you to find that activity that brings you joy and engage in it while the lockdown lasts.
2. Remember to play after every storm. I believe that this should be a mantra for how we live our lives. The quote is from a young boy (Mattie Stepanek) who died from complications due to muscle dystrophy. We must all be reminded that it is OK to play. This is a note to self as I can sometimes be anxious about not working; even on weekends.  However, as Shonda Rhimes once mentioned, play is needed for work to work.
3. Clean your space. Think about it, you have so much time for deep cleansing. This might be a good time to read a few self-help books, the bible; or both. I am currently reading The Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss, and I am learning about our energy systems and how our thoughts eventually manifest in our physical bodies.

So, read books, redecorate your space, toss out the things you no longer need in your house, make a DIY face mask (not the PPE) and slander the same on your face, shave (undergarment areas I mean).

4. Exercise regularly. At least take a walk around your house. It’s OK if you can’t be 100 percent effective. Sometimes and especially in these times, half measures are good enough.

5. Phone your people and check that they are OK. I am referring to the people in your corner who always have your back.

6. If you don’t have money, hide your face (from social media): People would not stop flaunting their extravagant lives on social media just because there is a pandemic. So Limit the time you spend on social media. Or remove all those accounts that post such lifestyles from your timeline.

7. Some people are expecting us to be extremely serious with self-improvement during this period. Don’t fall for this. This might be a recipe for anxiety and depression especially when you compare your work rates to those you see online.  While I am not saying you should be a nuisance during this period, pace yourself. If you were not reading 10 books a month before the pandemic, you would not read 10 books a month now because you are yet to build the needed capacity.

8. Consider those who may be in need of financial help and give (and then be quiet about your good deeds)

9.  Pray. At least a word of prayer for God’s forgiveness and for Him to bring an end to the outbreak. I urge you to believe in something now more than ever before. This belief or faith might be the very thing that takes us to the other side of this pandemic.

10. Follow all the recommended guidelines on handwashing, social distancing, and the use of nose masks.
