We Always Look At the Past To Make the Future Better

I think it is remarkable that the things we create in our lifetime can be a source of inspiration to others when we are gone.  We are beneficiaries of the efforts of the people who lived and died many decades ago. I think of this as standing on the shoulders of giants; the fact that we can create something bigger out of what is currently available. And this is true for almost every facet of our lives from healthcare to technology, and to entertainment. Think about the extent of innovation in communication that has happened because the internet exists.

Now, referring to the arts, my favorite example of this is Sam Smith's soulful version of Whitney Houston's How will I know Know which was featured in an episode of the hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Sam Smith was not even born in 1985 when the song was originally recorded by Whitney Houston.

In broad terms, the power of creativity is to influence others and a good example is Literature. I have read quite a few books in my lifetime and I am sure that the decisions I have taken so far have been influenced by the books I have read.

Paul Coelho's Veronica Decides To Die taught me that life is always worth living.

Cheryl Strayed's memoir, Wild taught me about resilience and endurance. After reading this book last year, I decided that, as a form of exercise,  I would trek for about 15 km every Saturday morning.

I am currently reading Hippie, a memoir by Paul Coelho and I am learning about living wholeheartedly.

I recently heard the news of a talented Nigerian dancer known as Picture Kodak who lost her life and as I went through her Instagram profile, I began to realize how talented a dancer she was. I could see that the movement of her arms and legs came from her soul and that she danced with joy.

So, this is a sort of tribute to Picture kodak. What I know for sure is that some little girl or boy will come across her Instagram profile and be inspired to dance wholeheartedly.

"Life is Short but Art is Long" is the reason we all must continue to create:
To write stories that inspire more love.
To write computer codes that can inspire innovations we currently think are impossible.
To enact policies that serve the present and the future positively

Because our creativity is our sustenance and survival.
